  As I looked at the photo frame That contained my past I couldn't really remember  When I had smiled my last. When I had been so carefree And happy without a cause Life had forwarded so much That I forgot to pause. The dusks with golden light The birds singing on trees The excitement of gully cricket The unbound joy sprees The gossip with the friends  The appeals for stumping Then the crazy runs on catch And the funny bumpings The expeditions to the neighbour's garden To steal the ripe fruits And then arrange small parties With our tiny loots Then suddenly from nowhere Came our moms' calls To enter the home as it was dark As the evening falls. The pleasant winds from 7PM And the power cuts A cherry on the cake  If raining also starts All of us used to run  To the balconies And with a torch point at Each other's eyes And we continued the mischief Unless we were caught And pulled back to the rooms And the hustle stopped.   Power and fame are the greatest lust And so the fights are pretty vast From the smallest to the greatest soul Whether they squeak or howl, Are into the race since was the time To climb the apex And be the prime To get noticed and asked after To sleep in peace, and enjoy laughter To be secure, in the worst days And be known in their own ways To be called the king And be worth a thing They do all they can To get the dream But jealousy is the creepy evil That none noticed as it drove the shovel And slid into the very show To knockdown with the deepest blow.   Our cultures are well known And praised all along, Like a lamp amongst the darkness Like a nightingale's song But like the shadows we find Just below the flame So we have some dark spots On our shining fame. Dogmatic, yet so proud we are Of the prejudices, we live with Have really never questioned or Tried to clean the old twigs The dark clouds of superstition Still rain on the jolly lands And wet the dreams and bonds Pulling down in quicksand Borders we do create With logic that doesn't suffice Yet we are so satisfied And feel we done something nice To divide men, on religions On beliefs and on castes Following things that do harm us From huge spendings to fasts Yet we are so happy to do That we don't ask a why?   When COVID came and the world  locked down , The initial days were boring. The casual hangouts were missing As things were far from restoring. I missed my jolly college days, The fun-filled chillings and talks The soothing breeze every afternoon With gentle aimless walks The rush for mess, the dunk fights That made our days vibrant The howling rooms of the hostels Have then all gone silent. A month passed, then two The cases were on the rise To stay at home and take good care Were advised by the wise. But bored we got, sitting alone With nothing much to do But solitude was the tonic then, The bane became a boon. I took my laptop and got started To find a way out To bring me something interesting To pass my time, no doubt. Gradually, something caught my eye Addicted to it I got. It was nothing but development Those that suit my accord.
